Article XII - Nominations & Elections

Section1. Officers

  • A. The female/non-binary Co-Chair and the Secretary shall be elected in even numbered years. The male/non-binary Co-Chair and the Treasurer shall be elected in odd numbered years.

  • B. Nominations of Co-Chairs, Secretary, and Treasurer shall be submitted to the Co-Chairs by 5:00 pm, Pacific Time, April 15. Nominations for the above positions shall be closed and election for officers shall take place on the day of business meetings following the Robert Birle Memorial Dinner of at the NEA RA, by secret ballot and can be paper or electronic.

  • C. Nominations for officers shall be limited to the candidate's name, state affiliate, position, and office the nominee seeks.

Section 2. Zonal Directors

  • A. The female/non-binary Zonal Director shall be elected during even numbered years, and the male/non-binary Zonal Director shall be elected during odd numbered years.

  • B. Nominations for Zonal Directors shall open on April 15 and close on the end of the second business day of meetings at the NEA RA. Nominations may be submitted in writing to the Co-Chairs or taken from the floor. Election for Zonal Directors shall take place on the third day day of business meetings following the Robert Birle Memorial Dinner of at the NEA RA, by secret ballot and can be paper or electronic.

  • C. Nominations for Zonal Director shall be limited to the candidate’s name, state affiliate, position, and office the nominee seeks.

Section 3.  All elections shall be held in accordance with the one person, one vote principle and can be on paper or electronic.

Section 4:  To be eligible to run for Caucus office at the Caucus or Zonal Director level, a candidate must not have run for the same/similar office in the previous year.
